Wishlist on Steam
Add Akatori to your Steam wishlist so you get preload and launch notifications for the August 5, 2026 PC release. The store page also hosts the free demo — the fastest way to test momentum traversal before buying. When you are ready to dive deeper, read our getting started guide for day-one objectives and settings tips.

Play the demo
The Steam demo offers roughly 45 minutes across three myth-inspired realms with full tutorial systems and a major boss fight. Follow the demo walkthrough for collectables, ability pickups, and optional secrets so your first run is not wasted. After finishing, check demo impressions for a structured take on whether the full game fits your taste.
- 3
Learn the controls
Akatori rewards wall runs, pole vaults, dash chains, and staff combos — all of which feel better once inputs are muscle memory. Study the controls reference for keyboard and controller bindings, dash timing, and recommended accessibility tweaks before you attempt harder optional routes or boss rematches.
- 4
Beat your first boss
The tutorial boss Bumblebee is the demo's main skill check and a preview of phase-based fights in the full campaign. Use the Bumblebee boss guide for telegraph timing, safe aerial positions, and when to spend momentum finishers. Clearing Bumblebee cleanly is the best signal you are ready for Chapter One on launch day.
Wiki FAQ
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the difference between the demo, Chapter One, and the full game?
The free Steam demo is a self-contained slice — about 45 minutes across three locations with its own save data. Chapter One is the opening campaign segment in the paid game, tracked by nine dedicated achievements. The full release includes five or more realms, 31 achievements total, and the complete story arc Contrast Games is shipping at launch.
When does Akatori release and on which platforms?
PC (Steam) launches August 5, 2026. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One follow August 12, 2026. Nintendo Switch 2 is planned for 2027. See our release dates tracker and platforms tool for store links.
Which languages are supported?
This wiki supports: English, Deutsch, Français, Español. Configure locales in site.meta.json and run npm run generate:i18n.
Which languages does this wiki support?
Wiki guides are published in English, German, French, and Spanish. The game itself supports additional languages on official stores — including Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese — but we do not maintain simplified Chinese or Russian wiki locales.
How difficult is Akatori?
Expect a skill-forward metroidvania: readable telegraphs and fair checkpoints in the opening hours, with sharper timing demands in later demo areas and boss phase two. It is not a cozy idle exploration game, but it also does not require frame-perfect play to finish the demo. Use boss guides if a fight stalls your progress.
